UPDATE 3:00 p.m.: Monroe FD says they are now working a 3rd house fire today. They are currently on the scene. This fire is on 207 Egan Street approximately a dozen blocks from the other two fires.

They received the alarm at 2:00 p.m. and arrived at 2:06 p.m.

The owner of the house said he was outside working in his yard and looked up to see smoke coming out over his bedroom.

The same crews have worked all three major house fires due to their proximity to each other. All three fires are under investigation.

Chief Terry Williams says, as of now, the fires don’t appear to be related.

UPDATE: Another house fire on Gordon Avenue claimed the lives of three pets: 2 birds and 2 dogs.

This fire happened just three blocks away from the Allen Ave. fire below.

According to Chief Terry Williams, more specifically, the original conflagration happened on Sunday at 3:28 p.m. and it reignited on Monday. Firefighters were called out to the scene again at 11:56 a.m. as they were fighting the Allen fire.

The reignition was put out without incident.

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - A man was pulled from a burning house in Monroe on Monday.

Firefighters were called to Allen Ave. for a house fire. The man reportedly said he was trapped inside the kitchen and could not get out.

The initial call came in around 11:03 a.m. First responders got to the scene at 11:06 a.m.

911 operators were on the phone with him when he lost consciousness.

Firefighters had to remove bars from the windows to get in.

He was pulled out and he is in serious condition at St. Francis Medical Center, authorities said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Chief Williams says he plans top honor his firefighters for the rescue.
